DITAWriter Presentations at ConVEx 2022

DITAWriter's Presentations at ConVEx 2022

While I will not be there in person at this year’s ConVEx 2022 conference in Tempe, AZ, I will be doing a couple of virtual presentations.

The first is called “From Papyrus to the Virtual Elephants in Rooms” that I will be doing with co-presenter Jo Lam. The scope of this presentation looks at how human reading and cognition have evolved over time to serve the innately human need to instruct others on how to do things. We look at how our human minds have adapted feature-recognition functions in our brain to read, and how technologies have successfully–and sometimes not-so-successfully–enabled us to extend our understanding of instructional materials, such as technical documentation. If you are interested in learning more about how we can best use our paleolithic brains to properly utilize new technologies, check out our presentation, happening Monday, May 2nd at 14:20 – 15:00 (2:20 pm – 3:00 pm Mountain Time, 4:20 pm – 5:00 pm Eastern Time, 1:20 pm – 2:00 pm Pacific).

The other presentation I am doing is called “AMD: 16 Years of DITA Content”, which covers how DITA came to be utilized at the AMD Markham office for many years, and all of the uses it has been put to over that time. If you are interested in some of the early history of DITA that went in a different direction than the mainstream, or in the subject of production metrics this is the presentation to check out. This presentation happens on Wednesday, May 4th at 14:20 – 15:00 (2:20 pm – 3:00 pm Mountain Time, 4:20 pm – 5:00 pm Eastern Time, 1:20 pm – 2:00 pm Pacific).

Hope to see you (virtually) there!
