IDEAS will be presented in half-day, multi-track, one-hour sessions, with short breaks in between sessions.
The theme for this summer’s IDEAS is Agile Practices for Information Development. The combination of Agile development’s high speed, limited planning documentation, and short delivery cycles creates a unique set of challenges for documentation groups. These challenges require a shift in thinking about resource management, task allocation, and information quality and completeness. How can technical publications adapt and adopt the Agile manifesto to be applicable to the work we do? Our goal for this conference is to help managers determine if Agile methodologies are right for them and to share best practices for implementing Agile.

Measure Anything, CIDM Online Conference, January 26-27, 2016
“Managers seem to be ever on a quest for the right metrics to measure organizational well being and justify change. What are the key indicators of a healthy organization? What are the compelling statistics that grab management’s attention and inspire support?
Just as importantly, how do we measure these things? Frequently, the things we know how to measure don’t tell us what we want to know, and the things we want to know, we can’t or don’t know how to measure. How do we gather the data we need without a lot of overhead? How do we address the fears of our team?
CIDM invites you to our Winter 2016 Online Conference to tackle these questions. Learn from your colleagues in the industry about what metrics they find most meaningful and useful when managing their projects and their departments. Gather hints and tips for how to best gather and interpret these metrics.”

Intelligent Content 2014, February 26-28, 2014, San Jose, California, USA
“If you’re still hand-crafting content for each individual channel, device and audience segment, you’re doing it wrong. More importantly, you’re locking your content up in silos, hiding it from those who need it. And, you’re making it nearly impossible for those who want it to find it, to use it, to repurpose it, and to share it with others. That’s a huge mistake. It not only prevents you from reaching new audiences, but it also prevents you from becoming the lean, mean, content-producing machine you need to be in today’s hyper-connected global marketplace.
Don’t fret. You’re not alone. Outdated publishing models are one of the biggest challenges yet to be overcome in most organizations around the globe. But there are shining examples of companies that are doing it right. Companies that, in order to beat the competition, transformed themselves into publishers. Publishers whose content production methods are optimized to be hyper-efficient and extremely fluid. Publishers of content that is both valuable and compelling. Content engineered to attract, acquire, and engage a clearly defined target audience. Content that, when put to work for a brand, helps it drive profitable customer action. Effective content. Liquid content. Intelligent content.”
