Earlier this year Ed Marsh of the techcomm-focused “Content Content Podcast” interviewed me as I rambled on about my quarter-century in Technical Communications. Ed is a great interviewer and this ended up being fun to do, which I hope comes across in the podcast. We talked about a wide range of topics, including my start in technical writing for fax software manufacturer Delrina, my work writing for an free computer magazine back in the 90s, and how I got into DITA when working for a graphics card manufacturer. I also go on to talk about what exactly I do as a DITA Evangelist for IXIASOFT, and explain the titular “I Can Eat Glass“, a widely-translated, odd phrase which I used to test localization capabilities of systems claiming full Unicode conformance.
The podcast was fun for me and I hope you find it entertaining. Make sure you check out Ed’s Content Content Podcast for some of the other fascinating people he talks to in the technical communications like Andrea Ames, Liz Fraley and Jack Molisani to name a few.
